About Twist N Play

In the first week of April 1994, a group of friends came together to throw the very first Spring Scoot Scooter Rally, and perhaps nothing so perfectly describes the ethos of this club than the founding members were throwing weekend scooter rallies before they even formed a club. The club came later, in ‘97 or ‘98 depending on who I ask, recollections lightly clouded by time and hazy memories, exact dates overshadowed by debauchery and friendship.

Twist n Play has always been about the love of the ride and commitment to community. While we certainly love a vintage, we definitely love a nasty fast build, and we’re at least lightly preferential to Vespas these days, we are far from purists. We are a club that doesn’t believe in a riding season, or a bad day to be on a bike (I mean, who looks at the first weekend in Portland Oregon and goes “what a great weekend to be out on a bike for days straight”). As a result of our ride always ethos, we tend to own bikes that work for us, that will log miles and smiles, be it kitted vintage or reliable moderns. And, if you’re ambitious and stylish, maybe a Lambretta.

Spring Scoot isn’t in April anymore, although Soup Scoot has now taken its place as, for many people, the first rally of the summer. Just because you ride all winter doesn’t mean we entirely want to host in the rain anymore, call us softer than we used to be maybe. But year round, we can be found, Tuesdays and Friday evenings, hanging out, and more than likely riding to a second location. All are welcome, including non scooter bikes, just don’t be an ass. Misfits, ruffians, dirtbags, punks, united by two wheels and a little light chaos. If you see our round red patches and stickers in the wild, say hi, be it in town or at your own local rally!
